Today marks our 2nd second day of the climbing of Yala Peak. On this day, after breakfast at Syabrubesi, we will trek to Sherpagaun which takes about 6 to 7 hours. Along the way, we see beautiful landscape, farmlands, local houses and stunning views of Ganesh Himal. Around 6 to 7 hours walk from Syabrubesi, you will reach at Sherpagaun. Stay overnight at a teahouse in Sherpagaun.
Today marks 3rd day of our climbing and on this day we will trek to Thangsyap. We will trek through oak and rhododendron forests above Langtang River. As you ascend, you can get amazing views of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Naya Kanga (5844m), and other snowy peaks. From Thangsyap, the trails widen to take you to Langtang Village and Mundu. Langtang Village and Mundu Village are picturesque mountain villages situated below the stunning Langtang Lirung (7227m). Although the houses/teahouses in the village are significantly affected by the 2015 earthquake, most of the village has been rebuilt. After crossing small streams with wooden bridges, you can finally reach the most sacred monastery of the Langtang region, which is known as Kyanjin Gompa. Stay overnight at a teahouse in Kyanjin Gompa.
Today we will escape the teahouse section because we will move towards Yala Peak climbing zone, known as Yala Peak Base Camp. Our way to Yala Peak Base Camp is all the way through the Basin of Langtang River. Then we will climb on rocky moraines past a few dry meadows to finally reach the base of the peak that you will be summiting the next day. Stay overnight at a tented camp at Peak Base Camp.
Today is the most highlighted day because on this day we will reach the summit of Yala Peak (5500m). You will start the climb early following the instructions of your climbing guide. You continuously make your way through the slippery trails to finally conquer the peak of Yala (5500m).
From the summit, you will get a stunning 360-degree view of several mountains and also impressive views of the Langtang valley below. After the successful summit, we will climb back down to Yala Peak Base Camp. And upon reaching there, we will return to Kyanjing Gompa for the overnight stay. Stay overnight at a teahouse in Kyanjing Gompa.
After having your breakfast at Kyajin Gompa, we will retrace our steps to Rimche which is the next camp after Lama Hotel. We follow the same trail back to reach Rimche. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Rimche.
On this day, we will trek to Syabrubesi through forests and riverside paths. The trail slopes down through the forest where you come across small Chortens. Around 5 to 6 hours walk from Rimche, you will reach Syabrubesi. Stay overnight at a teahouse in Syabrubesi.
Today marks last day of our Yala Peak Climbing. On this day, we will drive to Kathmandu upon having breakfast at Syabrubesi. Same like Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, it takes around 5 to 6 hours by a Jeep. Enjoy your last glimpses of the Langtang region. Upon reaching your hotel in Kathmandu, our journey to Yala Peak will be concluded.
Let’s create a custom trip just for you. It takes only 2 to 3 minutes.
We traveled to Nepal in October–November 2025. We are here for the second time; in 2024 we successfully completed the EBC trek with Cho La and Gokyo, a wonderful journey together with Base Camp Hike. This year we booked with the same agency again, and it was the best choice.
We decided to combine two circuits: the Langtang Valley with the ascent of Yala Peak, and the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
I meant to write a short review, but we experienced so many unforgettable moments that they simply cannot be captured in just a few words.
We were accompanied by a wonderful team from Base Camp Hike—our trekking guide Lama Man Bahadur, our porter Memba, and our climbing guide Sonam—coordinated by Jayaram Thapalya, the founder and CEO of the company. They formed an enthusiastic, very friendly team that made us feel like members of a family, bringing lots of positive energy and good vibes—a team that deserves a gold medal and a 5+.
Lama and Memba accompanied us throughout the entire journey. Lama was always concerned that everything would go smoothly, that we would have the best and most comfortable accommodations possible. He offered us many valuable informations about nature, the mountains we saw, the valleys we crossed, the flora and fauna we encountered, stories and legends of the local people, as well as the history of the villages and local communities. He did everything to ensure that our expectations were fully met. It was both a mountain journey and a cultural and spiritual experience, with visits to monasteries and temples—an immersion into the heart of local communities. Our evenings were enlivened with stories and games. From Lama we learned about the customs and traditional costumes of the Gurung and Tamang communities. We felt and lived, even if just a little, moments from the daily life of the locals who welcomed us warmly and gladly shared fragments of their traditional songs and dances.
Memba was not only the one who helped us with our luggage; he delighted us with his curiosity, energy, and determination. He taught us words and expressions in the Nepali language, paid attention to the more difficult passages, and walked the trail with all his heart alongside us. Our safety, comfort, and good spirits were their main concerns so that we could enjoy a truly memorable journey.
In Kyanjin Gompa and on the summit of Kyanjin Ri, we met a second Base Camp Hike team, just as enthusiastic, with whom we shared some beautiful moments.
Jayaram Thapalya, the founder and CEO of the company, was once again by our side from start to finish, in constant contact with us—patient, professional, flexible, and always up to date with everything that was happening—to ensure that everything went smoothly from beginning to end. Communication and planning were very easy with Jayaram; he always responded promptly to all our messages and questions, welcomed us warmly upon our arrival at the Kathmandu airport, organized every detail of the trip—from transportation to stage planning and accommodations—and was always giving attention to our needs, customizing the itinerary so that it would meet our expectations and offer us the best possible experience. He was always there, together with the entire team, in the more difficult or delicate moments, to find the best solution.
The highlight of the trip was the ascent of Yala Peak. Jayaram stayed connected with us at all times, constantly monitoring the weather forecasts, adjusting the plan and proposing alternative options so that our safety would always come first. Working with the entire team made the ascent a success, allowing us to share priceless and unforgettable moments together, for which we are grateful and thank them deeply.
Langtang Valley is a place of rare and pure wilderness; the ascent of Yala Peak offers incredible views from the heart of the Himalayas and an unforgettable experience in the quiet of the base camp. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a sacred journey into the sanctuary at the foot of Annapurna I, guarded by Machapuchare, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, South Annapurna, and Hiunchuli, where sunrise and sunset are dramatic, and the sky on sunny days is a deep, dark blue.
It is certainly not our last journey to Nepal—we will return and will organize it again with the same agency, Base Camp Hike, which we warmly and confidently recommend.
