Pikey Peak Trek is a newly introduced and less-travelled trekking route in the Everest region of Nepal. In fact, this short trek offers magical views of giant mountains, including Mount Everest. It is located in Nepal’s lower Everest region (Solukhumbu District). Renowned for its stunning 360-degree views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and other peaks, the Peak Trek is a hidden gem for adventurers seeking a short, accessible, and culturally rich experience.

According to Sir Edmund Hillary, the Pikey Peak (4,065 meters/13,336 feet) offers one of the finest vantage points for viewing Everest, especially during sunrise and sunset. This short trek offers a perfect blend of stunning Himalayan views, rich Sherpa culture, and an off-the-beaten-path adventure. Without spending more than 500 USD for the trekking, we can do the Pikey Trekking. The best part is that it’s suitable for all age groups and short-day trekking.

In terms of maximum altitude, this trek reaches the summit of Pikey Peak at 4,065 meters (13,336 feet). From this view station, visitors can experience breathtaking panoramic views of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and more. Accommodations are provided in a basic teahouse with shared rooms and communal dining with hearty meals like Dal Bhat, Noodles, Momo, Thukpa, and many more.

We can say that the Pikey Peak Trek is one of the best short-duration treks in Nepal, as it offers the seven tallest peaks in the world within 5 to 6 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. As this trail offers MAGICAL VIEWS of several tallest peaks, Pikey Peak Trekking is one of the best treks in Nepal. This 5-day trek starts and ends with a 7 to 8 hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar or a 30-minute flight to Phaplu, depending on the itinerary.

Why Pikey Peak Trekking?

Unlike other trekking in the Everest region, the Pikey Peak trek is a budget-friendly, short trek that offers magical views. It is the alternative to the Everest Panorama Trek, offering unparalleled Himalayan views without high-altitude challenges or the need for a Lukla flight.

Beautiful landscapes, cultural richness, and off-the-beaten-path make it ideal for those seeking an authentic Himalayan adventure. Whether you’re a novice trekker or a seasoned adventurer, Pikey Peak promises a memorable journey with lifelong memories.

If you are looking for a short trek or a suitable trial for beginner trekkers in Nepal, the Pikey Peak Trekking is the best choice for you. This trek is not only for the mountain views but also for the cultural exploration of the Sherpa people in Solukhumbu, Nepal.

The Pikey Peak is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views over the Mahalangur Himalayan ranges, from where you can enjoy the seven tallest peaks in the world out of the 14 peaks. They are Mount Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Annapurna, and Shishapangma. You can even see other peaks below 8,000 meters, such as Gaurishankar, Mera, and Thamserku. Accommodations on this route are basic teahouses.

The trail passes through beautiful settlements, where you can visit the ancient Buddhist monastery of Thupten Chholing. You can even experience the unique Sherpa culture. In August, cleansing rituals are performed at the sacred lakes with several important shamans, and during July, the locals hold different celebrations to worship their clan god.

Even though it is rich in natural beauty, it is less traveled than other Everest region treks. This trek is suitable for everyone, including newbie trekkers (no prior hiking or trekking experience required). The Peak of Professionalism to Pikey Peak

November 10, 2025

Our party of four arranged a trek to Pikey Peak Nov 3 – 7, 2025. Our first contact was with the Director Jayaram, and he was quick to answer any questions we had and provide necessary information. We had a wonderful time on the trip. The itinerary was very good, and the weather was excellent for viewing in the morning, so the panoramic views more than met our expectations. Our guide Ginesh and our porters Nima and Lek Raj were all excellent, fun and personable. A couple of times two people in our party struggled a bit, and all three staff were right there to give assistance. The vehicles arranged to the drop off and pickup points were well maintained and the drivers extremely careful. All in all, an excellent experience and everyone in our party would highly recommend Base Camp Hike as an agency.

Unforgettable Pikey Peak Trek with Base Camp Hike

April 22, 2025

I recently completed the Pikey Peak trek with Base Camp Hike, and it was the perfect way to end my time in Nepal. Everything about the experience was incredible — from the breathtaking views to the seamless organization and thoughtful guidance throughout.

A special thank you to Abhi, my guide, who truly made the trek memorable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, gave helpful walking advice, and struck the perfect balance between being supportive and giving me space to enjoy the journey. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed — just relaxed, safe, and well looked after. He was the perfect walking companion.

A big thank you also to Jayram, who runs Base Camp Hike. Communication from the very beginning was clear, responsive, and professional. I felt completely safe and supported the entire time, and it was evident that a lot of care goes into every trek they organize.

Base Camp Hike is a locally-run company and it shows in the heart and dedication they bring to every detail. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about my experience and would 100% book another trekking adventure in Nepal with them.

Highly recommended!

Great experience! The staff gave us all the details and advice before we started. Our Sherpa guide (Pasang) and porter (Bear) were helpful and friendly, they contributed to make this experience more enjoyable and unforgettable. Finally, the Pikey Peak trek was what we wanted to do, a medium level trek that wasn’t too touristy, meeting interesting people and seeing one of the most amazing places in the world, the Himalayas.

PERFECT ! Pikey Peak Trek

February 9, 2021

My friend Colek and I booked Pikey peak trek with Base Camp Hike Pvt Ltd and we don’t regret anything, because everything was just PERFECT. We also customized a little bit the trip with our guide Bishnu and everything went very well. We had an awesome view from the beginning to the end of the trip.

Our porter Padma is strong and lovely. So if you want to go trek to Nepal, I highly recommend using Base Camp Hike Company, because there are professionals who know how to organize everything.

Next time we’ll come for a trek to Mardi Himal.

Recommended Pikey Trek

January 25, 2021

We did Pikey trek in 2020’s February. It was an amazing experience. We were 3 in our group and found this trail is best for the Everest view within a short time( 7 days). Moreover, we chose it due to the less touristic trail.

The trek was organized by Base Camp Hike. We got the best guide, a strong porter from this company. They provide service beyond our expectations.

Anyone looking for a less popular trek in Nepal, we recommended Trekking to Pikey Peak and Base Camp Hike Company.
