The Pikey Peak trek is a newly opened hiking route in Solu, Nepal. The word Pikey is derived from the name of a Sherpa Clan deity. The hill station offers a majestic view of the Mahalangur Himal. On the basis of elevation, Pikey Peak is one of the best viewpoints of Nepal.
The Pikey Peak is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views over the Mahalangur Himalayan ranges from where we can enjoy the 7 tallest Peak in the world among 14. They are Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Annapurna and Shishapangma. You can even see below 8 thousand peaks such as Gaurishankar, Mera and Thamserku. Accommodation on this route is tea-houses.
The trail passes through beautiful settlements where you can visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery of Thupten Chholing. You can even enjoy the unique Sherpa culture. In August, cleansing rituals at the sacred lakes are performed with several important Shamans and during the month of July the locals hold different celebrations to worship their clan god.
Even though it is rich in natural beauty, it’s less travelled than the other areas in the Everest region. But, in recent years, Pikey Peak is getting tourists more . This trek is suitable for everyone who wants to enjoy mountain views.

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Dhap (Altitude: 2930m, Drive: 09/10 hours)
You’ll drive to Dhap with trekking Guide and porter through Highway. For the drive, you can have private Jeep or public bus. It depends on what you pay on Pikey Peak booking. In case of public or sharing vehicle, we can catch a bus from Kathmandu and then drive up to Jiri from where you can catch next vehicle to Dhap. After arrving the Dhap, you’ll stay at teahouse.
Day 2: Trek to Jhapre (Altitude: 2830m, Trek: 5/6 hours)
After breakfast, today you’ll trek along the picturesque village Shigane, capturing the beautiful view of the highest peak, Mt. Everest, Numbur Himal, the Rhododendron forest, and visit the local monastery. Upon arrival at Jhapre, overnight stay at Jhapre.

Day 3 Trek to Pikey Base Camp (Altitude: 3640m, Trek: 6/7 hours)
Today, you’ll walk through an uphill trail with stone-paved steps to the Yak Pasture. We’ll walk through Mani wall, local houses.
Before reaching the Base Camp, we’ll check-into the lodge where we can book room and stored baggage. Afterwards we can hike to Pikey Peak View points which takes approx 1 and half hours and back to tea houses.
Day – 4 Hike to Pikey Peak (4065m) and trek to Junbesi (Altitude: 2700m, Trek: 5/6 hours)
Certainly you should wake up early in the morning to see sunrise from Pikey Peak View Point(4065m).
From Pikey Peak, you’ll be able to see a heavenly view of the snow capped mountains such as Mt. Everest,Kanchenjunga ,Dhaulagiri, Choyou, Makalu and Shisapanba which are renowned as the tallest peak of the world.
On return time from peak, you can see some yaks walking near you. If you’re interested in the taste of the Cheese and Yogurt of Yak, you can try at the pasture. The trek continues up to the Junbesi, crossing the Lamjura pass.
Day – 5 Trek to Salleri (Altitude: 2469m, Trek: 5/6 hours)
Today, you’ll trek towards Salleri. Salleri is the main station for the trekkers commencing trek to Everest with a drive option.
Explore the Salleri village and overnight at guest house.
Day – 6 Drive back to Kathmandu ( Drive Hours: 7/8 hours)

Drive to Kathmandu using a vehicle according to deals.

You can catch a Local Bus or Hire a Private Jeep to reach trek starting point of Peaky Peak. And in order to return Kathmandu from trek closing point of PPT, we can use same mode of transportation(Bus or Jeep).
