Getting there and away

If you wish to reach Pokhara by plane, it takes 30 minutes to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu Airport. So that you can save your precious travel time. From Pokhara, we can take taxi up to Nayapul .

But if you wish to drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by Tourist Bus, it takes approx 8 hours to reach Pokhara. Next day drive to Nayapul by taxi or Public bus as your choice.

We can also drive Kathmandu to Nayapul by Local Bus or Micro Bus. It takes approx 9 hours to reach Nayapul( Trek starting Point). From there around 25 minutes walk you will be in Birethanti. Stay overnight at Birethanti.

We can take taxi Next morning you can comeback Kathmandu by tourist bus.

Poon Hill weather is usually unpredictable. Within 1 hours, sometimes it will be clear same as it will be foggy. So, it is wise to know weather forecast of GHOREPANI POON HILL before hiking. Sunrise

Sunrise from Poon Hill is one of the highlighted part of Ghorepani Trek. It will be happen between 6:15 am to 6:45 am according to trekking season. During the main season, more than 300 people hikes everyday for sunrise. When you see sunrise over the Himalayas the moment will be breath taking experience.

The backlight of sunrise is wake up early morning like 4:30 am with cold weather and hike 1 hours steep with the help of headlight. It is not suitable for those who like calm environment. There will mass of tourist for sunrise purpose .

Sunset

Sunset time at Poon Hill is between 6:00 pm to 6: 15 pm. Lots of people love to sunrise at Poon Hill but they don’t know how much pretty sunset will be there. If weather is clear, you’ll see great sunset over the Himalayas.

Detailed Itinerary

You should have a detailed itinerary of Poon Hill to do successful Ghorepani Hike. Here is complete itinerary of Ghorepani.

Day 1: Kathmanu to Pokhara Drive

  1. Bus Type : Tourist
  2. Duration : 7-8 hours
  3. Distance : 200km

We’ll pickup you from your hotel to Tourist Buspark.Then we will drive to Pokhara by tourist bus.Around 4 pm we will be in our hotel.Enjoy rest time at Pokhara.

Day 2: Pokhara to Naya Pool (Drive) and trek to Ulleri

  1. Vehicle: Taxi
  2. Duration:1.5 hours drive and 6 hours trek
  3. Elevation: 2000 m

Take a Taxi from Pokhara to Nayapul. During the drive, most of the road is Pitched. But some parts are under maintenance. On the way we can see beautiful Annapurna range and fishtail. We’ll start trekking from Nayapul(1080m).

30 minutes trekking from Nayapul, you’ll reach Birethanti(1100m). Around 2 hours walk from Birethanti we will be in Sudame . At Sudame you will have lunch. From Sudame to Tikedhunga is just take around 2 hours.

But After crossing Tikedhunga two suspension bridges the way is steep up. It’s the hardest part of this trail. There are more 3200 steps which take roughly 2 hours to get Ulleri.
Ulleri is a beautiful village with Magar communtity.From Ulleri we can see Annapurna South 7219m and Hiunchuli 6441m. You will stay overnight there.

Day 2: Ulleri to Ghorepani

  1. Duration : 5 hour
  2. Altitude: 2850m
  3. Launch : Nangethanti

This day is not hard like yesterday. Even though we need to ascent 800m up. On the way to Ghorepani there are beautiful forest. Most of the them are Rhodododron. In the Spring season it will be colorful forest due to varities Rhodendron bloom. At Nagethanti 2400m, you will have lunch which takes 3 hours from Ulleri.

After having lunch at Nagethanti we will move to Ghorepani which takes around 2 hours.

In terms of Ghorepani there are 2 parts of its.

  1. Upper Ghorepani
  2. Lower Ghorepani

Upper Ghorepani is popular for tourists because from there you can see panoramic mountain views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Lower Ghorepani is for local tourists. You will have overnight stay at Lower Ghorepani.

Day 3: Ghorepani- Poon Hill-Tadapani

  1. Duration : 6 hour
  2. Altitude: 2800m
  3. Launch : Banthanti
  4. Highlight:Poon Hill(3210m)

We get up early morning with warm clothes and climb towards Poonhill(3210m). You need to carry one Headlight plus a bottle of Water. It takes around half an hour to reach the viewpoint.

You will see the mindblowing sunrise and eye-catching view of the mountains like Fishtail, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Baraha Shikhar, Dhampus Peak, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri ranges, Tukuche peak, Lamjung Himal, Mt.Manaslu ranges and Gurja Peak(7193m).

After enjoying a memorable view, we back to Ghorepani. We will take our breakfast in our hotel then we start our trump to Tadapani which takes approx 4 hours. On the midway we will have lunch. Tadapani is also like Ghorepani from where you can see amazing view ofHiunchuli, Annapurna south, and Machhapuchhre. Stay at the guest house in Tadapani.

Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk

  1. Duration : 4 hour
  2. Altitude: ?1,940 m
  3. B,L,D : Ghandruk
  4. Highlight:Gurung Museum

Ghandruk Village Annapurna

Ghandruk is one of the most popular villages of the Annapurna region. It is the biggest villages of on the way to Annapurna Santuary Trek. The highlights of Ghandruk is Gurung Museum . View of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli from Ghandruk is amazing. Enjoy overnight at beautiful lodge of Ghandruk.

Day 5:Ghandruk – Nayapul- Pokhara

  1. Duration : 4 hour drive
  2. Altitude: 800m

We will trek up to Nayapul throgh beautiful landscape. You can use Bus or Jeep from Ghandruk to Naypul if you want to go pokhara quick.

Day 6: Pokhara to Kathmandu

At 8 am in the morning tourist bus leaves from Pokhara Tourist Buspark. So you should to be there before 20 minutes before departure.
