Annapurna Circuit Trek is of the most leading treks in Nepal. It leads us to the popular rotes inside Annapurna Section and is the most customizable and adventurous as well. This trek is demanded in terms of many aspects as natural, cultural as well as religious ones.

The journey passes encountering several suspension bridges, enjoying pristine waterfalls, glaciers, several Mani walls, Gompas, apple orchids, getting the Himalayan hospitality, passing several Monasteries, and popular temple of Muktinath.

Throughout the journey, you will get the lifetime experience while passing Thorong-La (5416m)-one of the highest and the widest pass of the world. Moreover getting the picturesque views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre, Thorong Peak, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche is breathtaking. Next advantage of this trip is to explore the deepest gorge of the world-Kali Gandaki gorge.

This trek is considered as moderately difficult trek and the most antique trek. It contains the quite developed hiking routes throughout Nepal. As most of the trek occurs in Alpine zone, you get Tibetan flavor in the forms of culture, religion and the way of living.

This trek is regarded as the most customizable trek in terms of duration and and desire of the guests. We can finish this trek within 10 days and extend up to 21 days. This trip is divided into two types.

Modern Annapurna Circuit

This trip begins from Syange- Lumjung passing the settlements as Ta, Dharapani, Chame, Mananga, Thorong La, Muktinath and finishes at Jomsom- Mustang which takes 10 to 12 days to be finished. You have choices either to fly or drive from Jomsom.

Classical Annapurna Circuit

This amazing journey begins from Besishshar, the administrative headquarter of Lumjung district and ends at Beni, the district headquarter of Myagdi district. It completely takes 21 commercial days to be completed. In the past, due to the inconvenience of the road and everything, the trekkers used to walk peacefully. Because of the road and other convenience, people prefer to shorten the trek.

As many people think that is is a tough trek but I am considering it as a moderate trek. Another fact is if you are in Nepal, do something adventurous. Only the altitude around Thorong La creates somehow uneasy in the trek. Here is the list of the facts why you should do this trip.

Getting there and away

You can catch a microbus or Tourist Bus from Newbuspark to go Besisahar. The bus start leaves from 6:00 AM and it leaves every hour.

The distance of KTM-Besisahar is 172.3 km. It takes around 6 hour to reach Besisahar. From Besisahar you can take Jeep to go Syange.

From Syangey you can start stroll.

For go back to Kathmandu you can take Jeep or Public Bus from Muktinath or down part of Muktinath.

Annapurna Cicuit Solo

ACT is high altitude trek. You need local person with you to minimize risk. It means even you dont want to take trekking packages, you can hire guide/Porter. So I recommend don’t do solo trek .

How long does it take to do Around Annapurna ?

You can do this Annapurna Circuit 7 days to 21 days. If you are athletics or Experienced Hikers then you can take Jeep from Besisahar to Chame(2800m). Afterward staying at Chame you can do in 7 days. But if you start from Besisahar and wish to finish at Beni, Myagdi.

10 days Annapurna Circuit Trek

If you want to do 10 days Ananpurna Circuit trek then we can drive Kathmandu to Besisahar and Besisahar to Taal. Or you can drive upto Syange and escape the Ngwal.

Detailed Itinerary

Here is day by the detailed itinerary of ACT. In a single day, you will see dozen of things on ACT. But including all things is quite impossible. I have mentioned some day highlight. Let dive to ACT detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Syange

Our guide will come to your hotel to Pickup you. Before that time you can have breakfast. We will arrange taxi to go Newbuspark from where Microbus leave to Besisahar.

On the way to Besisahar you will have lunch and scenic view of Ganesh Himal range, Ngadi Chuli, and Himalchuli. If there is no traffic Jam we will be in Besisahar within 7 hours. Besisahar is headquarters of Lamjung district. From here you will drive to Syange through Jeep which takes approx 3 hours.

Day 2: Syange to Tal

After having breakfast at Syange we will stroll to Tal. On the way, there are lots of stunning waterfalls and amazing landscapes. Around 2 hours walking from Syange you will be in Chamje where you will have lunch.

From Chamjey you can follow either road trail or trekking trail. Road trail is easy to stroll but trekking trail is up and down. Tal is a beautiful place where there are more than 20 lodges. Stay night at Tal .

There are 2 major spots before reach Tal(1700m).They are:

  1. Jagat
  2. Chamje

Day 3: Tal to Timang

Walking hour: 6

Lunch at : Dharapani

Around three hours beautiful stroll you will be in Dharapani. Dharapani is a junction of Annapuran Circuit and Manaslu Circuit trekking. Its beautiful places from where you can see some ranges of Manaslu.

You will have lunch at Dharapani and subsequent we will move to Timang. It takes around 3 hours to reach Timang from Dharapani. Around 400m ascent you should to climb from Dhanaque to Timang.

There 5-6 lodges at Timang from where you can see Ngadi Chuli and Himal Chuli scenic view. Enjoy at Timang by overnight staying at Timang.

Day:4 Timang to Dukurpokhari

Walking time : 7 hours

Altitude: 3200m( Dukurpokhari)

We will have an easy walk through pine and Phir forest today. On the way you can see beautiful Thankchok Village which is also a popular staying place for tourist. 2 hours walking from Timang you will be in Koto(2700m). In Koto there also some Hotel. It is the entry checkpoint of another beautiful restricted Nar Phu Valley trek.

Within 30 minutes walk from Koto we will in the headquarters of Manang which is called Chame.

There are dozen of the hotel in Chame. We will have lunch at Chame and after lunch, we will move furthermore. From Chame, you will see great views of Lamjung Himal(6986m). After Chame in 30 minutes, you will be in Talekhu and within 2 hours you will be in Bharatang.On Bratang you will see a big garden of Apple and Apple farm House. Apple of Bharatang is delicious.

When you walk around 1 hour from Bhratang you will see beautiful rock hill which is named Swrogdar( Gateway to Heaven). The spirits of the deceased must ascend this rock after leaving their bodies. It takes around an hour to reach Dukurpokhari from the river. There are Three lodges at Dukurpokhari. Enjoy at Dukurpokhari by seeing Annapurna II. You will spend that night at Dukurpokhari’s loge.

Day 5: Dukurpokhari to Ngwal

Duration:7 hours

Max altitude :3660m(Ngwal)

Comparing yesterday today’s journey is a bit hard. At first, it takes around an hour to reach Upper Pisang(3300m) from Dukurpokhari. In Upper Pisang, you can visit Monastery.
Upper Pisang to bottom of Ghyaru(3600m) is straightway which takes around one hour but from the suspension bridge to Ghayaru is steep up. One and half hours climb from there we will be in Ghyaru.

From Ghyaru you will see breathtaking views of Annapurna II(7937m) and Pisang Peak(6091m). In Ghayaru we will have lunch and you can see more than 100 years old house. It’s an easy way to reach Ngwal from Ghyaru which takes around 2 hours. Enjoy overnight at Nawal.

Day 6: Ngwal to Manang

Accommodation altitude: 3540m

From Ngwal you will see Cholu West, Cholu East, Peak 29, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak and Whole Annapuran mountain expect Annapurna First.

On the way to Ngwal to Manang , you see Monastery , Manistone and beautiful village. Stay at Manang

Day 7: Manang – Acclimatization day

Before cross 3540m we will take one day rest for acclimatization for higher altitude.
sunrise at ManangWe’ll spend that day by visiting Gangapurna Lake and some higher places as side trips. You can also look around the Manang villages. We can also the Himalayan Rescue Association Clinic for Altitude class.

Day 8: Manang to Yak Kharaka

Duration :3- 4 hours

Accommodation: Yak Kharka 4100m

Having one day rest at Manang we will move to Yak Kharka. The trail to Yak Kharka is easy from Tanki Manang because of its slide up. On the way to Yak Kharka, you will see a beautiful view of Gangapurna Mountain.

Day 9: Yak Kharka to Thorang Phedi

Stroll hour : 4 hour

Altitude : 4450m

The journey from Yak Khara to Jarsang Khola is easy. But from Jarsang Khola to Teashop around 10 minutes up. After tea around 30 minutes distance, there is a stone falling problem. So we need to walk gently and our guide are expert to pass it. Take your remaining at Phedi Hotel as you like.

Day 10: Thorang Phedi to Muktinath by doing Thorang La

Duration: 8 hours

Altitude : 3800m

Early morning we will start our voyage after having breakfast and some hot drinks. It takes around 1 hour to reach High Camp from Phedi. From Highcamp it takes around an hour to reach to the teashop. From tea shop within 2 hours, we will be in our goal Thorang top(5416m). Thorang La 5416mWe will take some photo and hot drinks at Teashop.Thorang Top Afterward, we will descend down to Muktinath which takes around 4 hours. But after descent 3 hours there is some teahouse where we will have lunch. Muktinath is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. Enjoy at Muktinath taking a hot shower.

Day 11: Muktinath to Jomsom

This is the last day of our trek. It consumes around 5 hours to reach Jomsom. On the way to Jomsom, you will have the scenic view of Mount Dhaulagiri, Tukuche and Nilgiri. Yaklebhati JomsomWe will have lunch in Yeklebhatti. Enjoy at Jomsom exploring beautiful Jomsom area.

Day 12: Jomsom to Pokhara

Take an early morning flight to Pokhara which takes 25 minutes to reach Pokhara Airport. If you don’t like to fly then you can use either Jeep reserve or Public bus to reach Pokhara.

Day 13: Back to Kathmandu
