Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek is a beautiful, non-crowded and moderately difficult trekking route located in the Dolakha district of Nepal. It is one week treks which is assessable through road transfer. This off-the-beaten-path trail takes hikers to 2 beautiful lakes, known as Tsho Rolpa Lake and Dudha Kunda. The maximum elevation of the trek is  4,100 meters (13,450 feet).

The trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range, including the majestic Gaurishankar Himal and other Rolwaling ranges. This off-the-beaten-path route takes you through pristine forests, and diverse landscapes, providing a unique cultural and natural experience. In short, the Tsho Rolpa Trek is ideal for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a less crowded trekking route in Nepal.

Overview of Tso Rolpa Trekking

The Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek begins from Chhetchhet. Since the trek begins from a low altitude, trekkers get acclimatized before reaching the Tsho Rolpa  lake. Due to limited teahouse availability, in order to finish the trek in a week (7 days), we need to walk 6 to 7 hours a day.

Situated in the northeastern region of Nepal, we have to drive to Dolakha to start the Tsho Rolpa Trek. The lake and trekking trail lies in the Rolwaling Valley. The Rolwaling Valley is one of the seven hidden valleys of Nepal. It is believe, Yeti is live in this region. Along with magical mountain views, there are beautiful terraced fields, farmlands, glacier rivers, green forests, and 2 great glacier lakes (Tsho Rolpa and Dudh Kunda Lake) on this trail.

While on the trek, we can get a very close view of Gauri Shankar (7,145m) and Menlungtse (7,181m). Besides this, we will see other peaks of the Rolwaling mountains region. Not only mountain scenery, we can also experience cultural insights of the Rolwaling region by doing the trek. The route is home to over 300 nuns. The Rolwaling area is mainly inhabited by Buddhists. While on the trek after crossing Dongdang, we will see many mani stones along the trail and prayer flags fluttering in the wind.
