Langtang gosaikunda trekking is one of the most famous trek destination in Nepal lies in langtang Himalayas. Detailed travel Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, I receive you with private vehicle and transfer to home stay in Kathmandu located near by Thamel. Then I will give you an information about further programs. As upon your request, we go to short walk around old city area.
All aspects of gear and conditions are discussed to make sure you're fully prepared for the trip. After lunch we explore this medieval capital city Kathmandu. Being a professional and licensed holder guide, I will take you for full day sightseeing such as Boudhanath stupa, also known as little Tibet. Then we visit Pasupatinath, holy temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Hindu where cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati. Later we visit Swayambhunath stupa known as monkey temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square the city of glory where you can explore living goddess. And transfer to home stay.
After morning breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. Take Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi.
This is our first day of trekking today. Follow the Langtang Khola River. Pass through the dense forests. Cross several suspension bridges. We also pass by a tea houses. The trail goes up and down but it's not that challenging.
Today after breakfast, we start our trekking day towards the village of Mundu. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. On the way to Mundu, you will also pass the Langtang village, which was severely affected the the earthquake last year. Langtang Valley alone lost 400 lives, flooded away by an earthquake-triggered avalanche, destroying an entire village and infrastructures. We also see the ruins of Langtang village, where life is slowing building back and a few tea-houses are reopened.
After breakfast, we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. You will pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. After the short trek, you will spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the buddhist shrine and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.
After taking morning tea and breakfast,we get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures and start for visiting to Tserko Ri hill station (5000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. Since, we are really getting into the high altitudes, you might start feeling the thin air. In the afternoon return to Kanjin Gompa- surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around Kanjin Gompa enjoying the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.
Today you retract to Lama Hotel. All the way downhill but you will see fantastic views of towering mountain what you have missed on the way up. Take more time and suggested you to walk very slow. Overnight in Lama Hotel (2,471m/8,106ft).
First trail decent to river, cross the river and ascend to Thulo Syabru. You will see the fascinating view of Langtang Himal and more. On the way of your trek you will pass through pine and Junieerps forests. Overnight in Thulo Syabru(2,230m/ 7,316ft).
You take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and the trial continues less steeply, through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Shin gomba. On the way of your trek you will see fantastic views of Langtang Himala and langtang valley. Shin gomba is another popular place for Cheese. Stay overnight in Chandan bari village.
Trek to Gosaikunda ascends smoothly up through the rhododendron covered point to the top of the rim and through a forested area. The area in-between Shin gomba and Laurebina Yak is a sanctuary for the red panda, an endangered species that the Nepalese call cat bear. You return to the ridge path and climb a wider route through alpine country to arrive at a pristine Gosainkunda lake. Explore around the Lakes and overnight in Gosainkund. Gosaikunda is equally polular for Hindu's and Buddhist Pilgrimage people.
Today is a bit challenge day; the trail is climb, rough and crosses moraines. Passing three more small lakes, the trail ascend and cross Laurebina La (4,609m/15,121ft) after the pass, the path down to phedi and you continue walk up and down through out crossing a rocky hill with pine, rhododendron trees. Overnight in Gopte Phedi.
Descending from the ridge at Ghopte, the trail makes numerous ups and downs across ravines and the boulders of old moraines. The trail slightly descends and then begins to ascend through the rhododendron, oak and juniper forests up to the Tharepati (3510m). Trek downhill with only one small ridge to cross en route. Stop at Kutumsang, an interesting typically old-fashioned Helambu village. Attractive Mountain views as well as local peoples’ life style, culture; customs would be worth making you glad. Overnight at lodge in kutumnsang village.
A pleasant walk down to the Pathi Bhanyjyang goes through forests. A shorter day but with descends and climbs to Chisopani, where the view of the whole central Himalayas is breathtaking. You can see Himalayan range from Manaslu to Everest. Landscapes will be reflective in the evening and early morning hours. Overnight at lodge at Chosapani village.
We start the day by climbing up the last pass of the trek at Borlang Bhanjyang, at 2240m. From here we descend steeply through deeply eroded chasms towards the Tamang settlement of Mulkharka (1800m). More super views while descending to the road through oak and rhododendron forests, with some pine a lower altitude. Now it is a short trek to Sundarijal as we walk past the local water supply system and follow the water pipe to this village. From Sundarijal we can take local transportation, or have our private transport waiting for us to bring us back to Kathmandu. You can extend your holiday visiting either to Chitwan wildlife safari or to Pokhara city on request. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
